Descriptions of the Two Positions Open for Nomination

Co-Chair:
The Co-Chair of the Administrative Committee will ensure the integrity of the Administrative Committee’s process and serve as the official representative of the Association and the Administrative Committee to outside parties. The Co-Chair shall ensure that the Committee acts consistently within its own standards of practice and those legitimately imposed by the membership. The Co-Chair is empowered to chair meetings of the Committee with all the commonly accepted power of that position (for example – ruling, recognizing). The Co-Chair is responsible for communicating the policies of the Committee to the various groups, associations, and individuals affecting by such policies. The Co-Chair is authorized to make reasonable interpretation of the provisions of the policies of the Administrative Committee. This position requires attendance of monthly meetings of the Committee or arrangement of an alternate to preside.
Terms of Office: The Co-Chair is elected at the AGM of the MU Membership for a three-year term with the first year overlapping with the current chair and a new co-chair sharing the position for the final 2 years.

Membership Coordinator:
The Membership coordinator is responsible for creating/maintaining national database of membership, in partnership with conveners. The membership coordinator works with membership to coordinate submissions to Gathering. In addition, the membership coordinator works with Communications to create and distribute quarterly MU newsletter.
Terms of office: The Membership Coordinator position is a 3-year term, renewable for another 3 years.

Nomination Process

  1. Nominations should be emailed to Debbie Fingas, Co-Chair of Music United, by April 30th, 2023 at email address: debbiefingas@gmail.com

  2. Nominations should include:
    a. The name of the person being nominated
    b. The name of the nominator and the seconder
    c. A short bio of the person being nominated, including: i. Music United experience; ii. Music experiences that involved working with, networking with, and supporting others; iii. Please include a photo that can be publicly posted with the bio (in jpeg or png format).
  3. Candidate’s names and bios will be posted to the Facebook Group and Website by April
    30st, 2022.
  4. Voting will take place at the Music United Annual General Meeting (AGM), Sunday May 7th, 2023. The persons attending the AGM will be eligible to vote.

Ways to be Involved with Music United
There are several ways people can become involved in Music United:
– Volunteer for local and regional initiatives that support music ministry in your area.
– Volunteer to help out Regional Convenors
– Host your own events that support the Music United mission
– Volunteer at Music Matters (especially In-Person events)
– Offer to be a guest writer for Music United initiatives
– Offer to host relevant topics for workshops and webinars
