Grace United Church, Tavistock, ON, seeks Musician/Choir Director

Grace United Church, Tavistock Ontario is seeking a Musician and Choir Director who will plan, lead and grow our music ministry. This candidate is expected to consult, collaborate and work alongside the minister and other committees in preparing music for worship.

Grace has a mix of longstanding members and families of all ages with an average attendance pre Covid of 95 people and a well attended Sunday School program.

Music is an important part of our service. The Music Director will ensure that there is inspiring music to welcome our members and help grow our community of faith. The Director will lead our SATB choir with weekly rehearsals and Sunday services, play at weddings and funerals, be called upon to join our Praise Band and willing to participate in musical outreach ministry initiatives.

The candidate will be energetic, possess good communication skills, and have a sense of humor and a broad range of music knowledge from traditional to contemporary. The Director will have the ability to encourage and support committees, volunteers, youth and children.

This position is available January 2, 2022 and could be a commitment of 8-10 hours a week. Salary shall be commensurate with experience and qualifications and will closely follow RCCO guidelines.

The ideal person will have experience playing the organ and piano. The organ is a 2 Manual Casavant and the piano is a Yamaha Clavinova CLP-150. The congregation currently sings praises from Voices United and More Voices. Grace United has copyright licenses, sound system, video streaming and projection systems.
