St. Andrew’s United Church in downtown Sudbury seeks a part-time Music Director (8-10 hours/week, subject to revision, post pandemic) who is enthusiastic about working as part of a team with ministry, lay staff and volunteers to present traditional and contemporary music.
Please visit St. Andrew’s web site for a job description that reflects the current pandemic
restrictions. The salary will take into account the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
Music is a high priority for this active congregation. St. Andrew’s has a 1972 Casavant (Phelps) II-35 pipe organ (relocated and revoiced 1992), a Yamaha DC7 Pro Disklavier 7’ 6” grand piano, and a Kawai 7’ 1” grand piano.
Our ideal candidate will have strong skills and proven experience to play these keyboard instruments with a high degree of musicality and technical ability. (Preference will be given to those with organ experience or interested in learning). Services are currently livestreamed—with or without congregation, depending on COVID restrictions—and posted to St. Andrew’s YouTube channel. Post pandemic, the successful candidate will also work with adult choristers in a way that builds choral confidence and enjoyment as worship leaders.
This is a contract position to June 30, 2023 (starting date is negotiable). We invite interested candidates to apply to standrewstaffing@gmail.com.
Please include a covering letter, resume including references, and video or audio clip demonstrating keyboard proficiency (required) and choral conducting skills (if possible).
