Caledon East United Church is seeking an engaging Director of Music whose principal function is to lead the church’s Ministry of Music.
Our country church is a caring, welcoming community of faith that is adjusting to life in the 21st century. We are inviting applications for an inspiring Music Director.
Music forms an integral part of our services, both through congregational singing and through our choir who offers music that lifts the heart.
Music has been a particular challenge during the pandemic, as we have been unable to sing together in person. We look forward to when we can safely return to live Sunday morning music. In the interim, the ideal music director would be comfortable connecting and leading music virtually, as well as in person.
This is a part time position (9 Hours weekly). Compensation based on RCCO’s Table of Recommended Salaries.
The required duties include:
- music accompaniment for Sunday services, special services & concerts, either in person or via zoom
- weekly discussions with the Ministers regarding music selection
- leadership and direction of the choir both in church and virtually
- provide music from home during Zoom services as required
- overseeing maintenance requirements of musical instruments
- budget management for the Music Ministry in consultation with the worship committee
- collaboratively working with Knox United Church and St. James Anglican for special services
The successful applicant must:
- possess strong leadership; interpersonal; organizational and communication skills
- demonstrate capability as a choral director and have experience with a variety of musical styles (traditional to contemporary) compatible with the theology of The United Church of Canada
- be willing and able to work collaboratively with the Ministers and Worship Committee
- be comfortable & capable utilizing a Mason & Risch Grand Piano during worship services (the use of our Allen Digital Computer Organ is optional)
- have an interest in growing the Music Ministry in new and innovative directions.
- be adaptable
