Lunenburg, NS – Central United Church is seeking an enthusiastic and talented individual(s) to lead our music program. We are accepting applications for either one individual who can fill a dual role, or two individuals: an organist and a choir director.
The role of the leader(s) of our music program is: to play for all Sunday services and special services held in the sanctuary; to collaborate with the minister on the selection of weekly hymns and to assist the minister in coordinating music and liturgy; to conduct weekly choir practices, and extra ones as needed; select and prepare the choral music for each Sunday plus special services; participate on the Worship & Music Committee; play for weddings and rehearsals held in the church (as requested) and to be available for funerals held in the church. Music is a huge part of life at Central. We are proud of our instruments which include a 1904 Casavant Pipe organ, a Heintzman 6’ in the sanctuary, a new set of Malmark 3-Octave Handbells and a Yamaha upright grand piano for rehearsal. We also have a dedicated group of talented musicians for you to work with for special musical offerings. We anticipate an average weekly commitment of 12 hours. We offer a salary in line with RCCO standards, and four Sundays of vacation time per year. Additional time off may be arranged through the Ministry and Personnel Committee.
